Our Sweet Hailey

Our sweet Hailey turned two today and it amazes me how fast time has gone by. She is such a joy and special treat to have in our family. She is full of energy that seems never ending. She can't stay still for more than two minutes...unless she is watching one of her favorite movies which at the time are Happy Feet, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Curious George and Peter Pan. She loves being independent and wants exactly what we have. Dinner time has to include the same plate-fork-and cup like ours; nothing different nothing less. She loves water and is amazing in the pool (thank heaven for floaties). She has no fear and will jump right in, sink to the bottom and come back up smiling and wanting more. I love it but at the same time I feel my heart skips a few beats sometimes. She is talking non-stop both words and some other Hailey language. She hears me call Jason 'babe' all the time so that is her new word. You can hear her say 'no babe,' 'hi babe' or just plain 'babe' throughout her day. It is the best! On the other hand, she has a bad temper. She gets pretty upset at times and always seems to tell on us. If Jason disciplines her she will come to me and say something that says daddy in the screaming and she will do the same to him when I discipline her. It baffles us how quick she can manipulate situations. "I" never did this...it must have come from Jason!! She easily likes to disagree with us and fight us on everything, so we have gotten in the habit of telling her to go to her room if she wants to be upset. And she gets right up and goes to her room no questions asked and then two seconds later you hear a big door slam. We are trying to teach her we don't do that and so far its semi-working ( if we post a picture of her room with no door you know why). She loves dancing; if anything with a beat comes on she is up and moving. She loves when I sing popcorn popping, Patty-Cake Bakers man, The itsy bitsy spider and twinkle twinkle little star. She also enjoys books and being read to. She loves climbing, riding, pushing, swinging...LOVES the swing at the park , and anything that involves action-just like daddy. She is still so young but I know she is going to be such a valiant daughter of our Heavenly Father. She loves her "dee-dee" (Jesus) and loves nursery! When we read scriptures she needs her own set on her lap. Whenever we sit at the table to eat anything she reaches her arms over to us and puts her head down ready to pray-what an example she is to us! I love that she is so determined and enthusiastic about life. She is an amazing spirit and we will be forever grateful for this special gift.

Our little MONKEY turned 2!

Our sweet Hailey turned 2 this weekend and we had a Curious George birthday party! She loves the movie and can watch it over and over and be completely intrigued by it each time. She calls him "George" or "Momo" (Mono is monkey in Spanish). It was easy and tons of fun. We held it at the park and had the kids run around. We did "Paint like George" and we also had chalk to draw on the ground. I made Curious George T-shirts for the kids and that helped them stay somewhat clean. We had pizza, watermelon, capri suns and ice cream cone cupcakes . Hopefully the kids had fun running, climbing and making a mess!

I have some monkeying around to do!

Serious Monkey Business...

Pizza and Capri Suns...a kids favorite meal!

Mmm, This looks good.....

and the frosting is the best part!

Great way to end a party... everyone look at the camera and say CHEESE!

Our Family Has Grown by "Two Feet"

We welcomed our little Layla "yaya" about 7 weeks ago. She is such a sweet girl, huggable, kissable and amazing. We are so lucky and blessed to have her in our family. We have loved getting to know her and see her personality develop. She is intrigued by her big sister Hailey, calms down with the touch of 'mommy,' and daddy can always put her to sleep....

We are grateful for Heavenly Fathers trust in us to be your parents

EXTRA, EXTRA!

I realize I haven't posted or talked much about our life, so I thought I would share some fun things that have been said, done and happened in our little home.

1). Hailey is either going through a bad case of the terrible two's or has some serious hormone imbalance. She can have quite the temper tantrums when she feels like it. Jase and I are very virtuous with our patience! She cries and screams because she is so frustrated and wants to do everything on her own no matter how frustrating....for both of us.

2). We welcomed a new addition to the family. Her name is Layla Gabrielle Anderson and she weighed 6lbs 7oz and was 19" long. A very petite Missy with big lungs. She, unlike her sister, is very dependent. I know she's a baby but even at this stage Hailey was content on her own. She cries a lot, wants to be held constantly and gets fussy easily. She hates being cold-has to be covered especially her feet and hates the wet wipes when I change her. She is sweet and wonderful, smells like heaven, I love how she calms down when her sister is by her side and how her eyes try to find us when we talk to her.

3). Hailey and "Yaya" as she calls her are amazing together. Hailey loves holding her, the first thing she does when she wakes up is run to our room and says, "baby yaya, baby yaya." When Layla cries she comes to me wherever I am and says "baby yaya" and then she goes to her sister and tries to calm her down by patting her head or saying "shhhh." It is so cute and wonderful to see these two sisters enjoy time together. Hailey being the good big sister and Layla enjoying it. I hope this always lasts!

4). As many of you know, or not know, we speak to Hailey in Spanish, however, most of our family and friends don't. So Hailey has been answering in English every time we talk to her. She understands the Spanish, but answers in English. And we are amazed at the things she knows!! We don't know where she is learning it. I guess friends, nursery, and cartoons are the culprits. She has been saying the cutest things like, "I'm tired nite-nite, I wanna talk to daddy, hi babe, I want juice and snack, I want milk", and other endless things. She copies everything we do and loves to say 'hi', 'bye' and 'take care' to strangers or anyone she passes by.

5). I think one of the worst things in my parenting career happened about two weeks ago. We went to dinner with our friends who don't have any kids. So while we ate in the patio section Hailey was getting antsy because she didn't have anyone to play with. (She is like her daddy and needs socialization). So I guess she got so bored that she decided to get her head stuck in between to bars of the metal fence. I of course freaked out and Jason was super calm. We must have put plenty of lotion and oil on her poor head and hair to slip her head out-but nothing. We had 4 guys trying to pry metal bars so I could push her head through-nothing. 911 was called first thing-this is what we were doing while waiting. Finally, all we had to do was slide her body through and not her head! That easy.....poor EMT's and firefighters-they probably wanted to kill me for that bad parenting escapade.

6). The next couple of weeks are going to be fun filled with activities, family and friends. We are going to Catalina Island for the weekend-small wanna-be vacation, Hailey is having a Curious George birthday party at the end of August and then we bless sweet Layla on the first of Sept. We are all doing good, blessed and happy! What more can we ask for.
